Prince William and Kate Middleton were always going to move into Windsor Castle, but since the Queen’s recent COVID scare, the relocation is a top priority. According to OK! Magazine, the royal couple has been searching for a home in Windsor more fervently in the last few days.
Marie Claire reports that William and Kate were spotted scoping out schools in the area for their children, 8-year-old Prince George, 6-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 3-year-old Prince Louis.
Royal watchers say there are two reasons for the move.
First, the Queen recently had COVID, and although she has conquered it, those close to her say she is still ‘ailing.’ Not surprisingly, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge want to be nearby in order to care for her if she becomes ill again.
Second, the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew has made the Queen’s inner circle skeptical of his intentions. He recently paid a $16 million settlement to Virginia Giuffre, who sued him for sexual assault after being trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein at age 17. Despite his horrific act, the Queen has allowed Andrew to stick to her like glue. She even attended a recent memorial ceremony for her late husband, Prince Phillip.
Speculation around Will and Kate’s rush to move has run rampant, with many suggesting that Andrew’s constant presence at Windsor is the cause.
Royal expert Jonathan Sacredoti told Marie Claire that the Queen has had an extremely difficult year, ending with losing Prince Philip.
“[She’s] definitely going to be feeling a sense of solitude related to losing her husband,” he says. “If William and Kate move to be closer to her, that could certainly help in that respect, and indeed [to have] children there.”
We could not agree more. Grandchildren are the best, and whatever the reason for the Cambridge family presence, we’re sure they’ll be welcome at Windsor.
